In a world flooded with podcasts, we suggest a collection of radio shows by San Francisco Chronicle’s music expert Joel Selvin. They are full of gr8 music and some music facts. The hour-long show called “Selvin on the City” is full of little known songs from the many famous recording artists Joel has covered over the years. One in particular is about the legendary music mogul Ahmet Ertegun, founder of Atlantic Records. This podcast starts with Mr. Ertergun’s early recordings, and it discusses some interesting facts about the history of Atlantic Records. From singing with Ray Charles to signing the Rolling Stones this podcast is loaded with musical history gems.

S.F. Music Expert Talks To Superfan Musiclover

The renown D.J. Dan Dellaripa, aka. Subverse agreed to meet at a secret location in the Bay Area and talk to Superfan Musiclover sometime in 2011.
Here are some snippets from that interview.

Superfan: Where did you come up with the name Subverse?
Subverse: I was a big fan of hip-hop, and went to a lot of underground hip-hop shows in the Bay Area. I ran with a crew of bedroom MCs who would come over and rap to all of my beats. So I figured I was making the music that was under the lyrics, or another word for that is would be: Sub (below) the Verse (lyrics)

Superfan: What’s the concept behind Subverse2ten.com?
Subverse: I saw the mp3 format as a way for artists like me to be heard. Forget getting on the radio, and electronic music was so far from the mainstream radar, that artists like Subverse would never get heard. So that’s what I wanted to promote artists that deserve being heard. Bassnectar is the perfect example. So I started a blog.

Superfan: What’s Next For You?
Subverse: I’ve started a new blog www.SFMusicSluts.Com. I’ve been an active participant in the San Francisco music scene for the past 12 years. I want to express my love of electronic music, my irreverent voice, and my DJ-ing experience to blast a unique view of the SF underground focused on heavy-beats and live shows. You will find us at the front of the dance-floor lighting the place up like 4th of July.
